November 24th, 2011 North Vancouver, BC. - Santa will make his highly anticipated return to Grouse Mountain along with his helpers and magical reindeer for the Peak of Christmas festivities opening this Saturday. From November 26 to December 24, Grouse Mountain will be transformed into a winter wonderland full of festive and magical experiences. Families can visit Santa’s workshop and meet reindeer, or take a sleigh-ride through our mystical alpine forest. Guests can also experience the tranquil beauty of skating on our 8,000 square foot mountaintop Ice Skating Pond, surrounded by snow-topped trees.

Lighting up the festive period, the Grouse Mountain Chalet will also be aglow with our annual parade of Christmas trees in support of SOS Children’s Village. This winter tradition is now in its 18th year and supports charitable giving, while ensuring a wonderful time for all involved with decorative trees on display in the Spirit Gallery. Families can also book in to have breakfast with Santa complete with a buffet and children’s entertainment and Grouse Mountain will again be helping to perfect everyone’s on-ice skills this holiday season. Skating lessons, in support of the Karen Magnussen Foundations’ skate development program, will be taught by the World and Olympic skate champion herself and some of the Foundation’s talented skaters on select days throughout the Peak of Christmas.

“For five years the Karen Magnussen Foundation have graced our Mountaintop Ice Skating Pond with their exceptional talent and on-ice skills helping to encourage a new generation of skaters to enjoy the sport”, say Grouse Mountain General Manager, Michael Cameron. “Grouse Mountain is again proud to support the Foundation’s mission to grow more world class skaters from a younger age here in the Lower Mainland. We look forward to cheering them on in the years to come as they represent Canada on the world stage in future ice-skating competitions”.
