(North Vancouver) After an amazing 19 hour day on the Grouse Grind®, Grouse Mountain is pleased to announce that the Suunto Multi-Grouse Grind® Challenge has helped raise an estimated $22,000 in support of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. This brings the Grind For Kids total amount raised to $1 million since the program began in 2010.

A new record was set at this year’s Multi-Grouse Grind® Challenge event as Ian Robertson of Vancouver completed 17 Grouse Grinds over the 19 hour period. This topped his previous record of 16 Grouse Grinds in one day set at last year’s event.

This year's top female finisher was Vancouver resident Andrea Johb who completed 14 Grouse Grinds over the 19 hour period.

As the only sanctioned event to determine the record-holder for most ascents of the Grouse Grind® in a one-day period, the Suunto Multi-Grouse Grind® Challenge saw a record 45 athletes seek their personal best while raising valuable funds for BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Grind For Kids program.

After finally wrapping a long day on Mother Nature’s Stairmaster, the 45 participants had hiked a collective total of 434 Grouse Grinds in a one-day period.

“We are thrilled to have so many people participate in this year’s Suunto Multi-Grouse Grind® Challenge and show their support for BC Children's Hospital,” said Julia Grant, Grouse Mountain’s Communications Manager. “All the athletes who participated should be incredibly proud of their accomplishment as well as their contributions to Grind For Kids.”
