(North Vancouver) It’s time to hit the slopes; Grouse Mountain will officially open Friday, November 10th at 3:00 pm for skiing and riding. With early forecasts pointing to another La Nina winter Grouse Mountain is thrilled to kick off the 2017/18 season with a tie for its earliest opening date in almost 40 years.

Thanks to some early snowfall on the North Shore plus recent colder temperatures that allowed our snowmaking team to fire up the snow guns, Paradise Bowl will be opening with access via the Greenway Chair as well The Cut to mid-station with access via the Screaming Eagle Express. In addition the Paradise Rookie Park as well as the Cut Terrain Park will opening on Friday. Skiing and riding will be available weekdays from 3pm to 10pm starting Friday and weekends and this holiday Monday from 9am to 10pm. Skiing and riding will be available at General Admission ticket rates until more terrain is opened.

“We’re thrilled to be kicking off the winter season with an early start to skiing and riding,” said Grouse Mountain’s Director, Mountain Operations Grant Wahl. “Cold temperatures allowed our snowmaking team to spring into action and with more snowfall in the forecast we’ll be working hard to open up more terrain soon.”

Enhancements for the 2017/18 winter season include significant slope grooming and enhanced top to bottom lighting on Blazes, an update to the grooming fleet with the purchase of a new Snowcat, a new wall ride and enhanced features in Grouse Woods™, improvements to recently introduced glade runs – Peak Glades and Expo Glades as well as updates to Altitudes Bistro in the Chalet which includes increased seating.

In addition to skiing and riding, guests can also enjoy a spin on the Mountaintop Skating Pond which opened today. Grouse Mountain is also excited to kick off the season for the Sliding Zone which will be open from 3pm to 8pm weekdays starting Friday and weekends and this holiday Monday from 11am to 8pm.
