Ideal conditions greeted racers this morning as they set out for the annual Seek the Peak, with its awe-inspiring 4,100-foot climb from West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park to the Peak of Vancouver. Now in its 13th year, the event saw close to 800 participants tackle the 16-kilometre course in the name of personal achievement and philanthropy.

Seek the Peak challenges participants to take on the strenuous course alone or as part of a relay team. With every step, valuable funds are raised for the BC Cancer Foundation’s lifesaving work in the fight against breast cancer.

This year’s Seek the Peak title goes to Damien Humbert with a time of 1:22:01 followed by Brooke Spence as the first female finisher with a time of 1:36:46. Taking top honours in the relay category is This One's for Al who clocked in at 1:33:58. For a complete list of official race times, please click here

“Thank you to all the participants, fundraisers and volunteers who made this year’s Seek the Peak another success – you are truly an inspiration,” said Lynn Chappell, Grouse Mountain Race Director. “Your dedication and commitment are making a valuable impact in the community by supporting the lifesaving work of the BC Cancer Foundation.”

Including the more than $36,000 raised during this year’s event, Seek the Peak has now contributed over $400,000 to directly support research conducted by the BC Cancer Agency. This year’s top team, Team Jacqueline, raised $3,080 while top individual fundraiser Geoff Bagshaw contributed $3,018.

“The BC Cancer Foundation is truly grateful for the participants and Grouse Mountain for supporting this wonderful event,” said Jan New, Associate Vice President, Development, at the BC Cancer Foundation. “The funds raised for cancer research will benefit patients and families in B.C. and beyond, making a meaningful impact today and for generations to come.”
