(North Vancouver) Perfect conditions greeted racers this morning as they set out for the 16th annual Seek the Peak, with its awe-inspiring climb from West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park to the Peak of Vancouver. This year’s event saw almost 700 participants take on the 13-kilometre course as individuals or as part of a relay team, with every step upwards raising valuable funds for the BC Cancer Foundation’s lifesaving work in the fight against breast cancer.

This year’s Seek the Peak title goes to Andrew Russell with a time of 1:24:49 and topping the women’s category is Chantelle Groenewoud with a time of 1:51:33. Taking top honours in the relay category is Team McMillan who clocked in at 1:27:16. For a complete list of official race times, please click here

“We are incredibly grateful for all the participants, fundraisers and volunteers who took part in making this year’s Seek the Peak another great success,” said Mallory Fitzgerald, Grouse Mountain’s Events Manager. “Your dedication and commitment are making a valuable impact in the community by supporting the lifesaving work of the BC Cancer Foundation.”

Since 2004, this unique event has raised over $480,000 in support of cancer research in British Columbia.

“The BC Cancer Foundation is so thankful for the participants and Grouse Mountain for their support of this wonderful event,” says Jan New, Associate Vice President at the BC Cancer Foundation. “The funds raised will benefit patients and families in the community and across B.C., helping us change cancer outcomes.”
