(North Vancouver) Over 400 participants took to the trail this morning for the 29th annual Grouse Grind® Mountain Run Presented by VPG Realty Inc. This annual favourite welcomes hikers of all ages to take on the iconic Grouse Grind while raising valuable funds in support of BC Children’s Hospital. 

The top spot of the day was claimed by Alexandre Ricard of Squamish, who crossed the finish line with a time of 27:38. Coming in with a second place finish was Jordan Guenette of West Kelowna with a time of 28:07 followed by Andrew Barrington of Oban in third place with a time of 29:17. 

In the women’s category, Madison Sands of Maple Ridge claimed first place for the second year in a row, with a time of 31:13. Following with a second place finish was Shalaya Kipp of Vancouver with a time of 33:36. Rounding out third place was Chessa Adsit-Morris of San Diego with a time of 34:25. 

“This annual event is a fantastic way to cap off the Grind season, celebrating personal achievement while raising important funds for the cardiology department of BC Children’s Hospital” said Event Manager, Mallory Newman. “It also brings out a wonderful range of participants, from elite mountain runners to novice hikers, all cheering each other on as they conquer the challenge of Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.” 

Participants in the Grouse Grind Mountain Run are encouraged to raise funds in support of BC Children’s Hospital. In addition, Grouse Mountain donates a portion of the proceeds from the Grouse Grind Mountain Run to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

1st place – Alexandre Ricard, Bib #406 (27:38) 
2nd place – Jordan Guenette, Bib #118 (28:07) 
3rd place – Andrew Barrington, Bib #413 (29:17) 

Women: 
1st place – Madison Sands, Bib #289 (31:13) 
2nd place – Shalaya Kipp, Bib #158 (33:36)

Average time: The Grouse Grind® Mountain Run presented by VPG Realty Inc. takes approximately one hour to complete, with 1.5 hours recommended for novice hikers. 
Participants: Hikers range in age from children to seniors with an equal male/female split.
