February 1, 2012 North Vancouver, BC. - It is hard to believe two years have passed since the world came to Vancouver for the Winter Olympics but Grouse Mountain hasn’t forgotten the spirit of the Games. On February 11 to 12, the Peak of Vancouver will turn back the clock to 2010 as we celebrate 24 Hours of Winter in honor of the Winter Olympics anniversary. For 36 consecutive hours, the entire Grouse Mountain resort will be open for guests to enjoy activities including midnight skiing and riding, sunset snowshoe treks, sunrise tours to The Eye of the Wind, shopping, dining, a junior pond hockey tournament and much more.
This year, Grouse Mountain has partnered with the City & Slope Festival to bring even more entertainment to Grouse Mountain and to the city as a whole with world-class DJ’s, hotel deals and slopes to enjoy. As part of this event, we invite guests to forget old fashioned drive-in movies and be a part of a new generation cinema experience during 24 Hours of Winter. With a backdrop of the twinkling lights of Vancouver guests can ski-in, sit back and enjoy movies on a huge outdoor screen. This is guaranteed to be a once in a lifetime movie watching event at Grouse Mountain.
“Grouse Mountain is giving Vancouver and the Lower Mainland two week’s notice to get some sleep”, says Grouse Mountain’s General Manager Michael Cameron. “24 Hours of Winter is back for another year, packed with enough events and activities to keep our guests wide-awake all night long. From our new outdoor movie screenings to sunrise mountaintop zipline treks this is the one weekend of the year that no one should miss here at Grouse Mountain”.
A host of local minor hockey teams will take to the skate pond at the Peak of Vancouver representing the Olympic teams. Children aged 7 and 8, will compete throughout the weekend in honour of the Games event where Canada clinched the gold medal. The teams are all from North Shore and let’s hope Canada will go for a repeat of 2010 with an amazing on-ice victory.
The most visually stunning event of 24 Hours of Winter will also be returning in 2012 as dozens of Grouse Mountain employees, passholders and local volunteers will come together and ski down from the top of the Peak. Torch bearers will create a glowing procession that can be seen throughout the Lower Mainland and continue a proud tradition that Grouse Mountain will pursue every February as part of our legacy celebration.
A General Admission ticket, Annual Membership, Winter Pass are required to attend 24 Hours of Winter and bookings for certain activities such as zipline, snowshoeing and The Eye of the Wind tours should be made in advance.

24 Hours of Winter revisits
Grouse Mountain’s momentous decision to remain open 24 hours per day for the duration of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games (17 days), showcasing the finest in snow sports and alpine recreation to international visitors and media from all around the world.
