Last weekend we were joined here on Grouse Mountain by two of Santa's very own reindeer!!  Each year we are lucky to have some of their time as they get ready for their big night on Christmas Eve.  This year we have Prancer and Dancer visiting us for The Peak of Christmas.

Dancer and Prancer are two male reindeer who are slightly larger than some of the girls we've had up here before.  They have large antlers that they re-grow every year and thick coats that keep them warm on those cold North Pole evenings (Grouse Mountain is kind of like a tropical vacation for them!).

They enjoy eating some of our leftover shrubs, but we also supply them with lots of alfalfa hay and some special reindeer pellets that Santa has provided to us (we think they are the secret to getting them to fly on Christmas Eve!!).

Dancer and Prancer will be up here with us through our Peak of Christmas festivities so be sure to stop by and say hello!  They can be found hanging out in their special Reindeer Habitat behind Santa's Workshop near our Skating Pond.  If you would like to learn more about them we'll be holding Ranger Talks  at 2pm and 4pm each day.

And listen very carefully on Christmas Eve - all reindeer's hooves make a clicking noise as they walk (or fly) - if you hear this on your rooftop you'll know that the reindeer, and Santa, have arrived!
