Grinder and Coola Serve as Art Inspiration for 'The Revenant'

Grinder and Coola, our two resident Grizzly Bears, have had quite a few interesting credentials to their names over the years here at the Grouse Mountain Refuge for Endangered Wildlife.
A new one we just found out about is their recent help for a local effects team working on the new movie 'The Revenant'. In the movie there is a scene where a female Grizzly is defending her territory and attacks the hero of the story. The bear in the scene was completely computer generated.
In order to design the CG bear Rich McBride of lead effects house Industrial Light & Magic relied on photos he had taken of Grinder and Coola on a visit to the refuge.
